Giving innovative digital companies from the North of England the recognition they deserve
Disruption North – a partnership between DisruptionHub and Bruntwood SciTech – is a programme to celebrate the most exciting digital and technology focused businesses in the North of England.
Although this region is traditionally under represented in the media, we know that it offers a wealth of innovative digital talent. The cities of the North, such as Birmingham, Liverpool, Leeds, Manchester and Newcastle host thriving digital ecosystems, driving their local economies and the UK’s global reputation for business innovation.
As part of our commitment to shine a spotlight on the digital North, we want to give its companies the recognition they deserve. We’re looking for Northern Stars – businesses proving their innovative credentials through the use of digital and technology.
What is a Northern Star?
To qualify as a Northern Star, a business must be:
- A startup disrupting the status quo with innovative new solutions OR
- An established business reimagining itself with digital technology
An innovative use of digital technology, a commitment to business in the North of England, and a culture of ongoing innovation are also essential.

We are inviting potential Northern Stars to apply via our website, for the chance to feature in the Disruption North programme.
Successful applicants will receive extensive profiles on DisruptionHub.com – we’ll also be meeting with, interviewing and inviting guest opinion from our Northern Star businesses throughout the year.
In addition, you’ll join our extensive network of innovators and disruptors across the UK. It’s the perfect opportunity to learn from, exchange ideas, and collaborate with those companies at the forefront of change and digital transformation.
From startup businesses shaking up their industries, to large organisations reinventing themselves for the digital age, if you are a Northern Star, we want to hear from you. Our application form takes around five minutes to complete, what have you got to lose?
