The Deadline For Disruption50 Applications Is Fast Approaching

A remarkable range of companies have applied to be part of the inaugural Disruption50 Index, a list of the UK’s 50 most disruptive companies

Disruptive business models, innovation, and technologies sit at the core of today’s most successful companies. Across the UK, organisations are waking up to disruption: to meet the challenges of the changing corporate world, they must truly understand disruption and turn it to their advantage.

Across our expert informed blog, print magazine, events suite, and curated experience programmes, DISRUPTIONHUB showcases businesses that are thriving in disrupted markets. Now, in partnership with Hotwire and Unanimous AI, we are seeking the 50 most disruptive companies that the UK has to offer. The Disruption50 Index will be announced this September at the UK’s leading conference on disruption, Disruption Summit Europe. Entries close at the end of the month – should your business, or a company that you know, be on the list?

Why enter?

Any company can say that they are disruptive. The Disruption50 Index looks beyond lip service to shine a light on the top 50 UK businesses building a culture of innovation, demonstrating rapid growth, creating new markets, displacing challengers, and changing consumer behaviour. If this sounds familiar, then your organisation could be one of them.

The Disruption50 Index isn’t just about gaining recognition. Successful entrants will build strong foundations for discussions with external investors and partners, backed by the affirmation of our expert panel. During the judging period, participating companies will be able to review the rankings and receive feedback throughout the process.

Join our network

Entering the Index also means joining DISRUPTIONHUB’s vast network of innovators from the academic, business, and investment communities. Each of the top 50 companies will be profiled in an exclusive report, with the official Index announced at Disruption Summit Europe on the 10th of September to 750 change leaders from a range of potential partners. This will also provide a chance to meet fellow applicants and learn about their respective disruptive strategies.

In the run up to the Summit, applicants will have the opportunity to connect with DISRUPTIONHUB’s 18,000 global subscribers through article features and interviews. As part of the process, we are working with disruptive video solution provider Binumi Pro. Video content featuring company representatives will be developed in-house using the Binumi Pro storytelling platform and camera rig.

Binumi Pro is delighted to be partnering with Disruption50,” says Christopher Bo Shields, Binumi Pro CCO. “We will be sending our video ‘Self Shoot’ kit out to judges and finalists so they can engage with you all using video which will then be edited professionally.”

It’s not all about the technology

The Disruption 50 Index champions disruptive excellence in businesses across the UK, regardless of sector. While many applicants come from the worlds of AI, data science, and automation, nominees also include major financial institutions such as NatWest, utility provider eWaterPay, community interest company Cancer Central, and nationwide parking app AppyParking. Further nominees and applicants include organisations operating in academia, creative design, recruitment, behavioural economics, compliance, and sustainable development. The scope and scale of entrants demonstrates how every company has been forced to adapt to rapid change. It also evidences the disruptive potential that exists within the UK.

“It is a real privilege to be able to provide a platform to share and recognise the inventiveness and capabilities of British companies,” says Tania Duarte, Chief Marketing Officer at DISRUPTIONHUB. “From startups to some of our biggest household names, all businesses who enter are showing their employees and stakeholders that they are part of the bright future of UK companies on the global stage. We are delighted that the entries we have had so far reflect the important role the UK plays as a centre of technology and innovation.”

To qualify, applicants must simply answer yes to three out of 10 critical questions, and be based in the UK. Once their application is accepted, it will go through an extensive, AI-powered judging process.

An artificially intelligent judging panel

The Disruption50 assessment process is unique. Initially, DISRUPTIONHUB will build a shortlist of successful entrants. The list will then be considered by a judging panel of 25 experts from world leading companies such as IBM, AXA, Vodaphone, Remitly, and Rainmaking, the company behind Startupbootcamp. Bringing cross-sector expertise from a variety of corporate backgrounds, the Disruption50 judging panel has been handpicked to deliver a uniquely informed decision as to which companies will be included in the final Index.

In a pioneering, real-time judging exercise, the knowledge and experience of the 25 judges will then converge within Unanimous AI’s Swarm Intelligence platform, creating an AI-optimised ranking of the top 50 applicants.

As a Disruption50 company, successful applicants will receive industry-wide recognition for navigating increasingly complex business environments. They will also benefit from ongoing relationships and exposure within the growing DISRUPTIONHUB ecosystem, and be invited to attend DISRUPTIONHUB’s flagship event, Disruption Summit Europe, for the unveiling of the final Disruption50 Index.
